Sneakers I Dig: 2/10/10

Let me just say that this is the first pair of Vans I’ve ever posted. Not because I don’t “dig” Vans in general, but I actually just sort of feel like these are a good intro pair for those of you that may be scared of them. Well let’s talk Vans for a sec. Vans have been out “forever and a day,” as we say in the dirty South. They’ve been popular amongst the skateboarding and surfing crowd, and have pretty much always been in style within those circles. Within the last few years, as the “80′s retro” look has become popular within the hipster, and urban circles, Vans have become “the shit and the urine,” – Kanye West 2009. As Vans became so popular, EVERY other company started making their own version, and it’s absolutely ridiculous. That being said, this is the Vans silhouette that everyone is ripping off. Known as the Vans Chukka Boot, here we see a simple black with white colorway, with an awesome “epi leather motif,” courtesy of a design collaboration with urban clothing company Crooks & Castles. These will be available in a limited quantity at the Vans Store, but you can find about 100,000 different colors and versions of these. Just wanted to start you all off with a safer pair.
