Sneakers I Dig: 1/20/10

This edition of “Sneakers I Dig” is a little different, in that I will be introducing a style of sneaker, without talking about a specific colorway or version. That being said, I present to you the Nike Air Zoom Toki. The reason that I wanted to put my 2 cents in about these, is that they are my current “Sneaker du jour,” and frankly I can’t get enough of them. I got a pair of these for $FREE.99, and sort of had the same reaction as when I first saw them on the internet, “Ehhh.” Once I put them on, I instantly changed my tone. I told you all a few weeks ago that basically every manufacturer is attempting to copy the silhouette of Vans, because they are timeless, and what’s “in” right now. The “Tokis” are no different. What I really like about them is their comfort, simplicity, and elegance. Basically, this is a sneaker that you would put on, thinking that it’s going to look like you’re wearing sneakers a little bit less. Once you look down on them, not only will you get the same feeling of “Wow these are pretty cool” that you get with other sneakers, but others who look closer at your choice of footwear will say, “Hmmm, those are interesting.” They are available in several retailers, in several different colors. I’m still partial to the Air Zoom Toki QS in Black/Black-Varsity Red, because you need that type of shoe in your closet. You can pick up that colorway, and the less exciting brown pair here for $90. Trust me, this is one pair you’ll like better in person.
