Ok so let me get you up to speed. The Nike “Flight Lite” came out back in the days, and were made popular by Scottie Pippin. Because Nike is smart, they recently released a newer version of the “Flight Lite,” called the “Auto Flights,” and continued to ride not only the current “retro-wave,” but also the current “vulcanized sole” wave. I could give you a long explanation of what it means to have a vulcanized sole, but I’ll just sum it up by saying that skateboarding shoes tend to have them. Basically every sneaker that is coming out these days look like Vans, which are bigger than ever right now, and the single most “knocked off” shoe. Nike has managed to take their retro/newly re-relevant styles, and make them double relevant by adding this sole. That being said, feast your eyes on the Nike Auto Flight High, in all black. These are fantastic, but let me take you yet another step further. In Jay-Z’s recent hit “Run This Town” featuring Kanye West and Rihanna, Jay says ” Get your fatigues on, all black everything. Black cards, black cars, All black everything” and poof, the biggest trend became, well, all black everything. I’m definitely not necessarily saying that Jay-Z invented this trend, I’m just saying he probably learned it was a trend, referenced it in a song, and now it is popular in urban fashion and the sneaker culture. So let’s recap. These are retro: hot. These have a vulcanized sole: hot. These are all black: hot. But all of that aside, these happen to look really cool. These are available overseas, and should be available in the US soon. These are also yet another reminder of my current conundrum of owning 1 too many pairs of black sneakers. But not because Jay-Z said it. No seriously.
