Yes sir, this is totally real and exactly what you’re thinking. Launching June 11, ESPN’s new channel is going to show over 85 live sporting events in 3D during its first year. They are starting with the 2010 FIFA World Cup match, and then moving on to sporting events like the 2011 BCS National Championship Game, various college basketball and football games, and the Summer X Games. Here is the official statement from the big whigs at ESPN (pronounced ess-pen): “ESPN’s commitment to 3-D is a win for fans and our business partners. ESPN 3D marries great content with new technology to enhance the fan’s viewing experience and puts ESPN at the forefront of the next big advance for TV viewing.” The only catch is that you will need a new 3D-capable HDTV. Dammit, my TV is 8 months old!
