I cohort of mine sent me this article about 24 hours after stuffing my face with wonderful Latin cuisine, and drinking almost an entire bottle of coquito. As one of the witnesses/enabler of my binge, he probably knew that what was swirling around in my head after the initial “ahh man I hate myself right now,” was “I gotta start eating better again.” This article says that basically if you eat like Mediterraneans have been eating for years, then you will live for a very long time. The diet is described as followed:

“It’s a perfect balance of vegetables, grains, beans, fruits and fish, with smaller portions of dairy foods and just a little red meat, drizzled in olive oil and served with wine. Here’s the best part: Recent studies suggest the closer you adhere to the traditional Mediterranean diet, the longer you’ll live.”
