Barbaric!

Barbaric!

Having a bad day? Watch this.

Let that word resound!

I’m actually sort of used to senile old southern weirdos. Having grown up in North Carolina in the 80′s, where not only was PTL (Praise the Lord) Network on TV all the time, but people actually subscribed to/openly admired the beliefs of insane nutjobs like Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker, the sound of a freak like Robert Byrd isn’t the worst thing I’ve ever heard. Granted, it’s disturbing that he’s on the Senate floor, and that he’s 144 years old and can still get elected (home state: West Virginia.) That’s frightening, yes. But somehow the whole thing is not alien to me. Maybe it was good practice to grow up among rednecks. Nothing scares me, now – ignorance, decrepitude, doddering geriatric racists who repeat the same word over and over while shaking their fist from a bully pulpit: whatevs. I can deal.

We all should be so lucky to come of age in the American South.
