Vanilla Ice sells out…again
Did anyone else see “Surreal Life” on VH1 some years ago where Vanilla Ice bugged out because the “old” picture of him was up on the wall? If not, the point is that he claimed to be ashamed of his old image, because it’s behind him now. He’s covered in tattoos, and tried his best to start a career as a rock-rapper when the whole Limp Bizkit/Korn era hit in the late 90’s/early 2000’s. It didn’t work, and after a failed reality show career, he has now decided to go back to the only thing that worked for him: acting like a buffoon and wearing glittery costumes. Here he is in a South African beer commercial. What a lame.
Okay. I’m going to say something that’s probably going to be pretty unpopular. But is he that terrible a rapper? Granted, I never heard any other song he ever did, but I like this song in this beer commercial just as much as I did when I was in ninth grade in 1991 and going to a redneck high school and Ice Ice Baby first came out – which is to say, pretty well. I used to diss on Eminem, mostly because he looked like an ass, much like Vanilla, but then I listened to him for a while and couldn’t help but admire him. I don’t know. I’m not sure why I’m jumping to Vanilla Ice’s defense. Maybe it’s because I just recently watched Danny Bonaduce’s videos on Youtube, and I’m feeling tender towards a fellow Z-lister. I’m not sure.
That is a horrible commercial. Why would I drink a beer if when I did Vanilla Ice jumped out? I would make sure no one ever drank it. Now if Color Me Bad jumped out, that’s another story…….dig.
